The Rig Mechanic App is a digital tool that helps connect mechanics with drivers that need road service. The platform allows mechanics to quickly respond to service requests in their area and saves drivers time and money by instantly notifying hundreds of mechanics in the vicinity of the breakdown. Instead of trying to find and contact mechanics one at a time, customers will have multiple options within minutes. You can find more information at https://bigrig.app/.
Install the app (iOS and Android) and create an account with your phone number. When a request is put in within your service area, you will be notified. You can also check the app to see available requests in your area.
No, you can respond to the notifications you receive through text message. However, you will not be able to complete a service request after your offer is accepted unless you have the app.
Respond to a notification you receive from Rig when a request is available in your area, or go to the app and respond to the requests available there. In most cases, submit your pricing for a callout (service fee, hourly minimum, etc.) and submit it for the customer to review. You will be able to adjust the price when on site to account for additional labor, parts, and other expenses.
If the customer accepts your offer you will be notified and your app status will update. You might also receive a call from an agent to confirm. The customer's contact information and location will become available.
Once you arrive on location you will be able to update the price to add/remove additional costs like more labor time, cost of parts, etc. In the Rig Mechanic App, simply select “Change Offer” to make the changes to the invoice. Make sure to give each additional line item a title and price, and then add to the invoice. Once you are done adjusting the price, make sure you complete the whole process and “Send Offer” to the customer.
When you complete the service, update the price (if necessary), take pictures for proof of service, and remain on location and wait for the customer to pay the remaining balance. DO NOT leave until the balance is settled. If you leave before the balance is settled, there is no guarantee the balance will be paid.
All payments are processed through Stripe (stripe.com). You can connect a Stripe account in the account settings in the app, or after your first service is completed. We do not support cash, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, Square, or PayPal.
A standard payment takes about 2–3 business days to process. If your Stripe account has a debit card connected, your payment can be processed instantly (2% fee applies).
No, the price you put in is the price you get. Rig does not take a percentage or charge any subscription fees to mechanics.
Rig charges the customer a fee on top of the mechanic’s price. Customers may also subscribe for a monthly fee and receive discounted pricing.
No. Doing so violates our terms and may result in your account being flagged and future service requests withheld.
As long as you submit proper proof of service, Rig will handle the dispute and your payment will not be reversed.
Your offer may not be competitive in terms of price or estimated arrival time. Customers select from multiple options and often choose based on cost and speed.
Please communicate with Rig and the customer as soon as possible. Letting us know allows us to find alternatives quickly and maintains trust in the platform.
Reply “CHANGE” in the Rig text message notifications thread. This will send you a link to adjust your service radius.
In the Rig Mechanic App, go to “Shop Settings” → “Notifications”. Adjust preferences for push, text, and call notifications, then tap “Save”. You can also reply “Unsubscribe” to a Rig text to stop text notifications.
It may be on hold in your Stripe account due to missing or outdated information. Log in to stripe.com to review.
Adding mechanics lets shop managers assign jobs and view requests across locations.
Mechanics must accept the invite and install the app to complete the process.
